BATSETA: CLIMATE CHANGE LIVE WEBINAR

We were delighted to be involved in one of Batseta's webinars on climate change. Ben McEwen, Climate Active Analyst at Sarasin, presented to a live online audience in South Africa.
In his presentation, 'Climate analysis and thematic work – Identifying and quantifying risk and alpha opportunities', Ben discussed how, despite abundant evidence of the social and financial damage implied by climate change and loss of biodiversity, markets are still mispricing the risks and underestimating the investment potential.
Applying a thematic investment lens helps us focus on long-term drivers and outcomes, and reveals a level of complexity that will demand a significantly more thoughtful approach from asset managers.

In his talk, Ben McEwen outlines:
- The scale of the problems we face, and why climate change could also be the most significant investment opportunity in human history
- The need to grasp the complex interactions between climate change and natural capital
- How we can apply lessons learned from climate change in tackling biodiversity loss
- Why the best options for protecting capital and generating returns are unlikely to be the most obvious
