Sarasin & Partners LLP and Bread Street Capital Partners Ltd (Bread Street) are today announcing Sarasin & Partners’ move to secure the Bread Street team. The deal will see Sarasin & Partners build out a new specialist private markets business called Sarasin Bread Street.
Sarasin & Partners is a global investment manager that invests thematically and responsibly on behalf of institutions, charities and private clients, with £21bn in AUM[1]. Bread Street is a private markets boutique founded in 2021 by former Aberdeen Standard Investments private markets investment duo, Alex Barr and James Witter.
Sarasin Bread Street will add proven private markets investment and product structuring capability to Sarasin & Partners’ award-winning asset and wealth management platform, providing clients with improved access to a broad range of private asset investment opportunities.
Barr and Witter will lead Sarasin Bread Street, focusing on building the investment programme and the business’ strategic growth. They will also become partners of Sarasin & Partners LLP. Key Bread Street team members, Alexander Henderson, Head of Strategic Partnerships and Guy Eastman, Senior Adviser, will continue in their existing roles at Sarasin Bread Street.
Alex Barr, Partner, Head of Sarasin Bread Street, said: “With our long-established investment expertise in private markets, we set up Bread Street to widen investor access to these asset classes. Sarasin Bread Street will be an innovative, competitive force in this space, well positioned to capitalise on our already advanced development of specialist products for the institutional, endowment and private wealth client segments.”
James Witter, Partner, Head of Sarasin Bread Street, added: “With companies staying private for longer and record levels of dealflow being seen in the industry, our deep experience and focus on quality enables us to be a trusted partner for investors seeking the best opportunities in private markets. The active ownership model of private equity provides the ability to deliver good ESG outcomes which complements Sarasin & Partners’ recognised commitment to responsible investing.”
In welcoming Alex and James as new partners, Guy Matthews, Chief Executive of Sarasin & Partners, said: “Sarasin & Partners has been steadily increasing its clients’ exposure to unlisted assets. This deal is a natural evolution of our strategy and will allow us to access a wider and more differentiated range of private markets opportunities. Alex and James’ focus on long-term, responsible investing, combined with their expertise and commitment to clients, is completely aligned with our core values, and underpins their desire to work with a company with a heritage of ESG and stewardship.”
The Bread Street team joins Sarasin & Partners to form Sarasin Bread Street effective today, 31 March 2022.
