2023 was a difficult year for sustainable funds after a very difficult 2021 and 2022. Looking back now it is clear there was overcrowding within the space, and impact was chased at any price without adequate regard of the underlying quality a valuation levels. Alex Rowe talks about his differentiated approach to Investing sustainably with a Quality and Valuation lens, and why despite a very painful few years for sustainable investors there is much to be optimistic moving forward.

Jeneiv Shah, Analyst / Portfolio Manager at Sarasin & Partners
Jeneiv is Co-Portfolio Manager for Sarasin & Partners Food and Agriculture Opportunities. He is also an equity analyst covering Global Food and Agriculture.
Jeneiv joined Sarasin and Partners in 2017. Prior to this, he worked at T Rowe Price as an international equity analyst for seven years. Jeneiv began his investment career in 2008 at Mirae Asset Global Investment as an emerging market analyst.
Jeneiv has a BSc Hons Mathematics from University of Warwick and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
Andrew Jones, Portfolio Manager, Janus Henderson
Andrew Jones is a Portfolio Manager on the Global Equity Income Team at Janus Henderson Investors. Prior to joining Henderson in 2005 as a portfolio manager on the UK Equities Team, Andrew worked as a fund manager at Invesco Perpetual, where he started his career in 1995.
Andrew graduated with a BA degree (Hons) in economics from Queens’ College, Cambridge University. He holds the Securities Institute Diploma and has 28 years of financial industry experience.
Alex Rowe, CFA, Lead Portfolio Manager, Nomura Asset Management U.K. Ltd
Alex Rowe has been with Nomura Asset Management UK Ltd. since 2014, having previously held investment analyst positions at FF&P Asset Management and Islandbridge Capital.
He has over 12 years of experience as a professional equity investor and has specialized in sustainable and responsible investment since early 2016.
He holds a Masters of Chemistry (University of Oxford, First Class), and is a CFA Charterholder. Alex is an alumni of the Oxford University Said Business School Impact Investing executive program.
