Oliver Bates

Oliver joined Sarasin & Partners in September 2008 having previously spent his 20-year fund management career at HSBC (formerly James Capel & Co) where he was Head of Charities. In addition to specialising in the management of charity portfolios, he leads on the subject of Social Impact Investments, and is responsible for the Sarasin Corporate Social Responsibility Report. Oliver previously was a trustee of both I CAN, a specialist speech and language charity for children with communication difficulties, as well as the Prostate Cancer Research Centre. He is an Associate of the Securities Institute, and is on the Board of the Charity Investors’ Group (CIG) and the Durham University Student Investment Fund.

Philip Berry

Phil has over 14 years of financial services experience working in both Life and Pensions and investment management. He joined Sarasin and Partners in 2019 from Seven Investment Management to look after our financial adviser relationships in the North of England.
Phil graduated from Liverpool John Moores University with a BA (Hons) Business Studies. He holds certificates in Life and Pensions and financial planning.

Jamie is Head of our Private Client team with responsibility for client relationship management, new business development and products. Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners in 1996, Jamie was at NCL Investments Ltd having joined the company days before the 1987 stock market crash.
Jamie has a MA Hons in Modern Languages from Cambridge University, PCIAM (the Private Client Investment Advice and Management certificate), IMC (Investment Management Certificate) and is a Stock Exchange Registered Representative.

Senior Distribution Support Manager
Caroline is responsible for the processing of client legal and operational agreements, management and coordination of new client contacts, liaison with clients/intermediaries, resolution of administrative queries, administration of internal CRM systems and reporting.
Caroline joined Sarasin & Partners in September 2001 and has more than 18 years of investment experience. She holds a BA (Hons) in American Studies.

Graeme has investment responsibilities for both international and domestic client portfolio at Sarasin.
Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners in 2013, Graeme was with Brown Shipley Private Banking, where he managed private client, charity and institutional portfolios.
Graeme holds an MBA from Cass Business School, alongside the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) Diploma and a BA Honours degree from the University of Sheffield. Graeme is a Chartered Fellow of the CISI.

Christopher Cade
Head of UK Sales
Christopher joined Sarasin & Partners in 2015. He focuses on distributing Sarasin & Partners collectives throughout Discretionary and Advisory businesses as well as Sarasin’s Outsource Solution for IFAs. Previously Christopher worked at Baring Asset Management and Skandia UK where he undertook various roles including Head of Third Party Distribution and Specialist in Investment Marketing respectively. Prior to this Christopher was a Sales Manager at National Provident Institution.
Christopher holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and a Diploma in Financial Planning.

Partner
Edward is responsible for the management of private client portfolios. Edward also co-manages Sarasin & Partners' AIM inheritance tax sheltered portfolio service. He is also co-author of Sarasin & Partners' Compendium of Investment. Edward joined Sarasin & Partners in1996 having spent three years at Capel-Cure Myers.
Edward has a MA Hons degree in Management and International Relations from the University of St Andrews, and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities & Investments (CISI). He is a Trustee of the British Humane Association and a court assistant of the Grocers Company.

Investment Manager
Henrietta assists with the management of UK and international portfolios. Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners in June 2020, she worked at a family office in London. Henrietta graduated with an BA in History and Politics from the University of Birmingham. She holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC), the CII Level 1 Diploma in Financial Planning and is currently studying for the Chartered Wealth Management exams.

Matthew Carter
Regional Business Development Manager - Midlands
Matthew is responsible for Sarasin & Partners’ relationships with financial advisers and discretionary wealth managers in the Midlands region.
He joined Sarasin & Partners in March 2021 from Garraway Capital Management, where he distributed Garraway Capital and Stratton Street Capital Funds to clients across the UK.
Matthew began his career at UBS, where he spent over 4 years as an Associate Director covering Financial Institutions in the UK and Ireland.
Matthew graduated from Loughborough University with a BSc (Hons) in International Business and holds the CFA UK Investment Management Diploma, CFA UK Investment Management Certificate and CFA UK Certificate in ESG Investing.

Will is primarily responsible for developing relationships with discretionary fund managers, multi-managers, banks and financial advisers in London.
He joined Sarasin & Partners in November 2015. Prior to joining Sarasin, Will was an associate within the Client Relationship team at Ingenious Investments.
Will holds BA (Hons) in History from the University of Nottingham and a master’s degree in History from Oxford University (MSt). He is also a Chartered Fellow of the CISI and a member of the Guild of Investment Managers.

Zoe has over 10 years of investment experience. She joined Sarasin & Partners in 2018 from Close Brothers Asset Management where she spent 4 years working as a Business Development Director promoting the full Close investment proposition to intermediary firms in the Thames Valley area.
Prior to this she worked as a Business Development Manager at Meteor Asset Management and Barclays Wealth & Investment Management.
Zoe holds the CISI Diploma in Investment Advice (Securities) and is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

Allanah is responsible for the management of UK and international private client portfolios. Allanah joined Sarasin in 2018 after having graduated with an MSc in Investment and Wealth Management from Imperial College Business School and previously a BSc in Chemistry from The University of Bristol. Prior to joining, she completed internships at Investec Asset Management as well as Whitman Howard Ltd.
Allanah holds the IMC (Investment Management Certificate), PCIAM (Private Client Investment Advice and Management Certificate) and has passed all three levels of the CFA Program.

Ruadhri Duncan
Partner, Charities
Ruadhri has over 15 years of investment experience in the fund management industry, where he has operated as both a fund manager and a charity trustee. After leaving the Army he started work with Leopold Joseph and Sons where he completed his fund management exams. In 1999 he moved to Newton Investment Management, where he worked within the charities department for over 12 years, joining Sarasin & Partners in 2011.
Ruadhri is a Governor of Maidwell Hall School and a trustee of the Army Cadet Force Association.

Randal has over 30 years of investment experience and joined Sarasin & Partners in 1998 where he manages some of the firm's largest private client and charity portfolios.
Prior to Sarasin & Partners, Randal was at NCL Investments Limited. He graduated from Worcester College, Oxford in 1989 with an MA Hons in Modern History. He is also PCIAM (the Private Client Investment Advice and Management Certificate) and Investment Management Certificate (IMC) qualified.
Randal is Chairman of the London Partners.

Bede joined Sarasin & Partners in July 2021. He started his career at JP Morgan Asset Management where he assisted in the development of JPMAM’s institutional ESG reporting offering.
Bede was awarded a distinction for his MSc in Accounting from the University of Manchester and has completed the CFA Level 1 and the CISI Investment Operations Certificates.

Mark Fairbanks Smith

Mark has over 30 years of investment experience and is responsible for the management of UK and international private clients, multi-generational wealth and charities. He is also responsible for managing Sarasin's Global Equity Real Return Fund.
Prior to Sarasin & Partners as a partner in 2007, Mark spent 10 years at Barings, 5 years at Credit Suisse, where he was Chairman of the Strategic & Tactical Asset Allocation Committee, and initially 6 years at Cazenove.
Mark is a Chartered Fellow of the CISI (Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment). He holds a MBA Hons degree in Finance & Investment from Cape Town University and a BA Hons degree in Russian from Exeter University.

James manages a variety of relationships, including private clients, charities and pensions. James joined Sarasin & Partners in 2004, having previously spent five years as an investment manager at HSBC.

Georgie joined Sarasin in April 2021. She assists with the management of international and UK portfolios for private clients. Georgie joined us from the University of Exeter where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Human Geography.
Georgie holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC), and is currently studying for Level 2 of the Chartered Financial Analyst exams, having passed Level 1.

Ben is primarily responsible for managing portfolios on behalf of UK private clients and Professional Intermediaries. Prior to joining Sarasin in January 2019, Ben was a Director at Tilney, where he worked with private clients as well as sitting on the Asset Allocation and Fund Selection committees.
Ben attended University College London and has a First-Class Honours degree in History & Philosophy of Sciences. He has passed the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments (CISI) Masters in Wealth Management, Private Client Investment Advice & Management qualification (PCIAM) and CFA Level 1. Ben is also a Chartered Fellow of the CISI.

John is responsible for marketing Sarasin & Partners’ investment services to charities and not-for-profit organisations including medical, educational, environmental, grant makers and religious orders.
John joined Sarasin & Partners in early 2011 after a career in the Army where he saw varied operational service. Much of his experience has been multinational in the climate of military, civilian and interagency cooperatio. He managed his Regimental Charities and remains a trustee of The Airborne Forces Security Fund. He has considerable experience in human resources, operational planning, risk management, event planning, instruction and training.
John graduated from Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and is an appointed OBE.

Lucinda has been managing private client, private pensions and charity portfolios for over 35 years. Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners in 2004, Lucinda spent 18 years with HSBC Investment Management, formerly James Capel & Co, where she was a senior director on the management team. Lucinda started in the city with Quilter Goodison, having spent two years training as a Land Agent, specialising in Agricultural Investment.
Lucinda is a graduate of Edinburgh University with a degree in Agriculture.

Marcus joined in March 2021. He assists with the management of UK portfolios for a variety of private clients and charities. Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners, he spent four years at Barclays Private Bank, managing private clients.

James is responsible for the management of portfolios on behalf of charities and UK and international private clients. He is also a member of our Investment Policy Committee and the co-author of the Sarasin Compendium of Investment.
Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners in October 2012, he spent seven years at GAM London Limited where he was a Portfolio Director managing a diverse range of private client and charity portfolios. He started his investment career working for Newton Investment Management.
James has a degree in Business Management from the University of Newcastle and is a qualified Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst. He also holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and has passed CFA level 1.

Katherine joined Sarasin & Partners in March 2020. Prior to Sarasin, she worked at J.P. Morgan Asset Management in the Global Insurance Solutions team covering insurance companies in Europe and Asia. She has also worked at Société Générale Private Bank as an Investment Advisor and has completed internships at Goldman Sachs and NatWest. Katherine graduated from Queen Mary University of London with a degree in Economics and completed the Sustainable Finance course at University of Cambridge.
Katherine sits on the Sarasin Diversity & Inclusion Steering Committee and the Diversity Project’s Steering Group.

Sam has 28 years of investment experience and is responsible for the management of portfolios for domestic and international private clients. Sam joined Sarasin & Partners in 2007 from Baring Asset Management, where he managed international private client portfolios. Sam's career in the city started in 1994 at Brewin Dolphin Securities Ltd.
Sam holds a BSc Hons degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Sussex, is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities & Investment.

Thomas career started in the industry in 2013. He joined Sarasin & Partners in 2017. Previously Thomas worked for Standard Life Investments for a number of years managing multi-asset and absolute return portfolios for corporate pension schemes and institutions.
He graduated from the University of East Anglia in 2011 with a degree in English Literature & Philosophy. Thomas is a CFA Charterholder®, a holder of the Investment Management Certificate (IMC), the CISI Capital Markets Program and is a member of the Chartered Financial Analyst Society of the UK.

Richard joined Sarasin & Partners in 1992 and is a Senior Partner focused on client management while helping develop new business opportunities, which includes Sarasin & Partners’ private equity business, Sarasin Bread Street.
Prior to this he was Head of Charities at the firm following the merger between Chiswell Associates and Sarasin in 2003 and is a member of the Executive Committee.
He specialises in strategy and the management of diversified, multi-asset portfolios for charities. He is author of the Sarasin & Partners Compendium of Investment, which has now been published for 20 years and is Director of the £2bn Sarasin Charity Authorised Investment Fund range. Richard has lectured at The Judge (Cambridge), University of Vienna and University of Stellenbosch business schools and runs the Trustee Training Programme for the CFG. He is the Chairman of the Investments Advisory Committee of St Paul’s Cathedral.

Prior to joining Sarasin in 2021, Harveer spent 10 years in the industry looking after Private Client and International portfolios; joining Rathbones in 2012 following their acquisition of Taylor Young Investment Management. Harveer graduated with a BSc Hons in Economics from the University of York. He holds the Investment Advice Diploma (IAD), the Level 6 Private Client Investment Advice and Management certificate (PCIAM) and the Level 7 CISI Chartered Wealth Manager Qualification.

Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners in 2017, Tania spent two years at Conservation Capital working on the investment team, and latterly became COO. Before this Tania spent eight years at Ruffer LLP where she was responsible for managing multi-asset, absolute return portfolios for charities, pensions, trusts and private clients. She has over ten years' investment experience. Tania graduated with an MA (Hons) degree in Classics & Spanish from the University of Edinburgh. She holds the CISI Diploma and the Investment Management Certificate (IMC), and is a member of the UK's Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Kerina joined in February 2021. Prior to this she worked at Stanhope Capital LLP for 3 years and Waverton Investment Management for 2 years, where she was working within the private client portfolio management teams.

Emma is responsible for the coordination of projects across Client Affairs, as well as acting as first line of defence and implementing strategy.
She previously spent three years working at C Hoare & Co as a Portfolio Manager’s Assistant on the Offshore Team, before moving to JM Finn as a Business Analyst.
Emma holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and PRINCE 2 qualifications.

Erik has over 12 years of investment experience, and is responsible for Sarasin & Partners’ overall relationship with Bank J. Safra Sarasin, as well as other Institutional clients of Sarasin & Partners. He is also Market Head for Southern Africa.
He began his career in 2008 as an investment analyst at Deutsche Bank (Suisse) S.A in Geneva, Switzerland. He then spent 9 years at Banque Lombard Odier & Cie SA, starting in Geneva where he worked extensively on developing the Nordic private clients desk. Erik then transferred to London where he helped build the European bank's new investment offering and later moved to a broader role within their Product Management & Sales division, before moving to Sarasin & Partners. Erik holds a BA Honours degree from the University of Manchester and is a CFA Charterholder.

Henry joined Sarasin & Partners as a graduate in 2019, having achieved First Class honours in Economics at University. He achieved his CISI Level 7 Chartered Wealth Manager Qualification in 2021 and also holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC).

Kamran is responsible for managing discretionary portfolios for charities, foundations and endowments.
He joined Sarasin & Partners in 2019 and previously worked at JP Morgan Geneva as support to the Head of Investments for EMEA, before moving to JP Morgan London where he covered ETFs and Mutual Funds. Kamran has worked in the industry since July 2016.
Kamran holds a BSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and has completed the CFA Level 1.

Mashrufa joined Sarasin & Partners in August 2021. Prior to joining Sarasin, Mashrufa worked at J.P. Morgan for four years as a Senior Associate in investment banking compliance. She graduated in International Relations from King’s College London and holds the CFA’s Level 4 Investment Management Certificate (IMC).
Mashrufa is also a trustee and board member for Leaders In Community, a grassroots charity driving youth social action and leadership in inner city London.

Sinead is responsible for building and managing relationships with key product providers, private client stockbrokers and IFAs in Scotland, Northern Ireland and the North of the UK.
Sinead joined Sarasin in June 2022. Prior to this she was at Seven Investment Management.

Matt joined Sarasin & Partners in August 2020, with over 20 years experience.
Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners, Matt worked at Newton Investment Management where he was Head of UK Institutional Business Development. Previously Matt has worked at Neuberger Berman, Gartmore Investment Management and Liontrust Asset Management – all focusing on institutional business development.
Matt graduated from Boston College in the United States with a Bachelor of Arts (major in political science) and holds the Securities Institute Investment Administration Qualification (IAQ).

Iestyn Richards-Rees

Throughout his 11 years in the industry, Iestyn has held sales and distribution roles with brokerage, platform and asset management firms. Before joining Sarasin & Partners in 2018, Iestyn was Regional Sales Manager for Verbatim Asset Management, specialising in multi-asset and discretionary solutions.
Iestyn studied Law at Cardiff University before joining Standard Life Investments as a graduate trainee. He holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and has passed Level 1 of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program.

Melanie has over 20 years of investment experience and joined Sarasin & Partners in 2011. In January 2023 she was appointed as Head of Charities, continuing to focus on focus on strategy, stewardship and client service for charity portfolios.
Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners, Melanie spent 16 years at Newton Investment Management as a fund manager of charity, private client, and pension fund portfolios.

Stephen joined Sarasin & Partners in 2019 to focus on the growth and development of the Private Client business.
He has over 20 years of experience in the investment management and banking industry, working with private clients and their advisors.
Prior to joining Sarasin, Stephen was Head of Private Merchant Banking at Edmond de Rothschild, having previously spent four years as Head of Private Wealth Management at Kleinwort Benson and nine years as Head of Business Development at Schroders Private Banking. He started his career in 1996 at Mercury Asset Management. Stephen has an MA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Oxford, is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and holds the IMC (Investment Management Certificate).

Hadley Simons

Hadley is the COO for Client Affairs and is responsible for general management and overseeing the sales and distribution platform across the private clients, charities, retail and institutional teams.
Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners, Hadley was the Division COO for Wealth Management at C Hoare & Co. In 2017, he executed the sale of the division to Cazenove Capital. Before this, he worked at Barclays from 2009, where he was the Head of Change for the UK Private Bank, and led a number of transformative programmes. He has also worked at UBS where, amongst other roles, he ran their European securities financing operation.
Hadley graduated with a BA Econ (Hons) from the University of Reading, and is an Associate of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI). He currently sits on the Investment Association’s DFM, Private Client and Wealth Management Committee.

Sophie's primary responsibility is to manage and develop relationships with potential clients, as well as a range of intermediaries who represent HNW and UHNW individuals with a requirement for discretionary investment management services. Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners in January 2012, Sophie spent 4 years with a Corporate Finance boutique in Mayfair.
Sophie holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and the Private Client Investment Advice and Management certificate (PCIAM).

Alex joined Sarasin in January 2020. He assists with the management of UK private clients and the Model Portfolio Service. Prior to joining Sarasin Alex studied at the University of Leeds for both his undergraduate and postgraduate degrees.
Alex is currently a CFA Level 2 candidate and holds the IMC.

Andrew joined in June 2018. He assists with the management of UK portfolios for a variety of private clients and charities. Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners, Andrew spent 7 years working in the financial services industry.

Octavia joined Sarasin & Partners in August 2021. She began her career at Gravis Capital Management supporting the UCITS sales team, following the completion of her MA (Hons) degree in History from the University of Edinburgh in 2020.

Alexander is primarily responsible for the management of charity portfolios, as a member of the core Sarasin & Partners charity team.
Alexander joined Sarasin & Partners LLP in 2014. He has worked in financial services for over 10 years, most recently at Newton Investment Management where he managed international private clients and Trusts, as well as investment models.
He holds a Degree in Experimental Psychology from Bristol University, the Private Client Investment Advice and Management Diploma (PCIAM) as well as the Investment Management Certificate (IMC). Alexander is a Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Helena joined Sarasin and Partners LLP in October 2020. She started her career at Rathbones in 2018, following the completion of her BSc (Hons) degree in Economics and Management from the University of Bristol.
Helena is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments (CISI), having achieved the CISI Level 4 Investment Advice Diploma in 2019.

Henrietta is the Deputy Manager of the Model Portfolio Service, as well as the investment specialist for Sarasin’s Target Return strategy.
Before joining Sarasin & Partners in January 2019, Henrietta spent 7 years at M&G Investments as Investment Director. Prior to this, she spent 6 years at JPMorgan Private Bank as Executive Director, International Head of Manager Selection.
Henrietta started her career with Cazenove & Co, before joining Credit Suisse Private Bank as a global equity fund manager. She has a degree in Economics from Cambridge University and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments.

Nick joined Sarasin & Partners in 1998. He is responsible for the management of UK and international private client portfolios, on behalf of both Sarasin & Partners, as well as Sarasin Asset Management, a subsidiary of Sarasin & Partners, which solely manages portfolios for US investors.
Nick has a BA Hons degree in Languages for Business (German) from Oxford Brookes University. He holds the SI Securities and Derivatives Certificates and is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment (CISI).

Phoebe assists with the management of UK and International portfolios. She joined Sarasin in 2021 after spending 2.5 years at Investec Wealth & Investment. Prior to this, Phoebe graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Classics from the University of Bristol.
She holds the following qualifications: Chartered Wealth Management, CFA Certificate in ESG Investing, CFA Certificate in Climate and Investing, Investment Advice Diploma and Level 4 Financial Planning and Advice.
