Professor Cameron Hepburn

Sir John Beddington
Sir John is Senior Advisor to the Oxford Martin School and Professor of Natural Resource Management at Oxford University, from 2008 until 2013 he was the Government Chief Scientific Adviser (GCSA) reporting directly to the Prime Minister. As GCSA, he was responsible for increasing scientific capacity across Whitehall. During his time as GCSA he set up the Scientific Advisory Group in Emergencies (SAGE) that reported to the COBRA committee. He is a Non-Executive Director of the Met Office, chairs the Cabot Institute External Board at Bristol University, the Global Academies Panel at Edinburgh University and the Systemic Risk Institute at the LSE.

Heidi Hellman
Heidi became Head of Group Strategy and Market & Competitor Intelligence at Centrica in 2016. She was previously Head of Strategy at BG Group and had various strategy roles at Royal Dutch Shell. Heidi has had over 25 years’ experience working in the oil and gas and power sectors, having started her career at Exxon in 1991. She has an MBA in Finance and Multinational Management from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

Chair
David is a leading practitioner in the field of responsible investment. He is a Fellow of the Judge Business School at Cambridge and a Director of KPMG and chaired their Public Interest Committee until November. He was the Treasurer of OXFAM until 2017 and a trustee of Nesta, the innovation charity. Previously, David was Chair of Hermes Focus Funds. As co-founder, and CEO of the Focus Funds and Equity Ownership Service, he built and led the largest responsible investment group of any institutional fund manager in the world. David has co-chaired the UN Environment Programme’s Finance Initiative and was closely involved in the setting up of the UN’s Principles for Responsible Investment.

Guy Matthews
Managing Partner
Guy was appointed as Managing Partner in June 2016, having previously been Chief Operating Officer since 2010 and prior to that Chief Financial Officer of the Sarasin (UK) Group from 2002 until 2010. He is also the Chief Executive Officer of our investment fund company, Sarasin Investment Funds Limited, and non-executive director to our offshore fund company, Sarasin Funds Management (Ireland) Limited. He is also Chairman on the Executive Committee and a member of the Product Strategy Group.
He started his career at Smith and Williamson where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1990. He spent a year at the Investment Management Regulatory Organisation (IMRO) on secondment and joined Sarasin & Partners in 1994 where he had responsibility for the financial accounts, compliance, corporate strategy and fund administration.
Guy is a Chartered Accountant, and was also formerly the Chairman of the FSA’s Smaller Businesses Practitioner Panel and a member of the FSA’s Practitioner Panel.

Adil Alaoui

Adil is responsible for third-party fund research and has over 10 years industry experience.
Adil joined Sarasin & Partners in September 2018 from Quilter Cheviot where he was primarily in charge of covering Fixed Income, Alternatives and Sector third-party funds research.
Adil started his career at AXA Investment Managers in 2008 and gained experience amongst various teams including distribution, risk management, asset allocation and eventually became a generalist Analyst within the Multimanager team.
He has an Eq Bachelor degree in Economics from Universite Pierre Mendès France, France, a master in Management from ESCEM Business School, France as well as a Master in Science from the London Metropolitan University, United Kingdom. Adil is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA).

Oliver Bates
Partner, Charities
Oliver joined Sarasin & Partners in September 2008 having previously spent his 20-year fund management career at HSBC (formerly James Capel & Co) where he was Head of Charities. In addition to specialising in the management of charity portfolios, he leads on the subject of Social Impact Investments, and is responsible for the Sarasin Sustainability Report. Oliver chairs the Sarasin Employee Forum, and has been a trustee of I CAN, a specialist speech and language charity for children with communication difficulties, as well as the Prostate Cancer Research Centre. He is an Associate of the Securities Institute, and is on the Board of the Charity Investors’ Group (CIG).

Daniel Belfer has been CEO of Bank J. Safra Sarasin Ltd since November 2019 and chairs the Group Executive Board. He is also Chairman of Sarasin & Partners LLP and of bank zweiplus ltd. Prior to that, he had been responsible for the Trading, Treasury and Asset Management Division since 2013. Daniel Belfer has held leadership roles within the J. Safra Group for 20 years. In 2010, he moved to Geneva, Switzerland, where he joined Banque J. Safra (Suisse) SA from Bank J. Safra Sarasin (Bahamas) Ltd, where had been CEO and a member of the Board of Directors since 2008. He became Head of Trading at Safra National Bank of New York in 2004, having held responsibility for Fixed Income Trading and Structured Products since 2000, when he joined Safra National Bank of New York. Daniel Belfer began his professional career in 1997 at BancBoston Robertson Stephens Inc. in Boston, USA; in the Emerging Markets Sales, Trading & Research department.
Born in 1975, Daniel Belfer is a Brazilian citizen and lives in Geneva, Switzerland. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Boston University and is a CFA® charterholder.

Phil has over 14 years of financial services experience working in both Life and Pensions and investment management. He joined Sarasin and Partners in 2019 from Seven Investment Management to look after our financial adviser relationships in the North of England.
Phil graduated from Liverpool John Moores University with a BA (Hons) Business Studies. He holds certificates in Life and Pensions and financial planning.

Alex is co-fund manager of the Responsible Global Equity funds and works closely with our team of sector-focused analysts. Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners in 2015, he spent three years at IFM Investors in Sydney as an equity analyst, with lead responsibility for the consumer sector.

Jamie Black

Jamie is Head of our Private Client team. His responsibilities include the management of the Private Client Department, product and new business development, and the management of key client portfolios. He is also Chief Executive of Sarasin Asset Management, our subsidiary company for US clients. Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners in 1996, Jamie was at NCL Investments Ltd having joined the company days before the 1987 stock market crash.
Jamie has a MA Hons in Modern Languages from Cambridge University, the Private Client Investment Advice and Management certificate (PCIAM), Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and is a Stock Exchange Registered Representative.

Caroline is responsible for the processing of client legal and operational agreements, management and coordination of new client contacts, liaison with clients/intermediaries, resolution of administrative queries, administration of internal CRM systems and reporting.
Caroline joined Sarasin & Partners in September 2001 and has more than 18 years of investment experience. She holds a BA (Hons) in American Studies.

Henry started his career in fund management in 1983. He is Chairman of the Sarasin & Partners Investment Strategy Group, Deputy Chief Investment Officer and Co-Portfolio Manager of the specialist thematic Food and Agriculture Opportunities strategy.
Specialising in multi-asset and global equity fund management, he has managed a wide variety of funds, including unit trusts, pension funds, life funds and charity endowments.

Megan is the Fund Manager for the Multi Asset Target Return fund franchise and the Sarasin Global Equity Real Return funds.
Prior to joining Sarasin, Megan spent 4 years at Coutts & Co working as an Assistant Fund Manager for the Coutts Multi Asset Funds.
Megan is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin with a degree in Business, Economics & Social Studies. Megan also holds the Private Client Investment Advice and Management certificate (PCIAM) as well as the Investment Advice Diploma (IAD) and is a CFA Charter holder.

Graeme has investment responsibilities for UK and international client portfolios. Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners in 2013, Graeme was with Brown Shipley where he managed private client, charity and institutional portfolios.
Graeme holds an MBA from Cass Business School and a BA Honours degree from the University of Sheffield, alongside the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) Diploma. Graeme is a Chartered Fellow of the CISI.

Christopher joined Sarasin & Partners in 2015. He focuses on distributing Sarasin & Partners collectives throughout Discretionary and Advisory businesses as well as Sarasin’s Outsource Solution for IFAs. Previously Christopher worked at Baring Asset Management and Skandia UK where he undertook various roles including Head of Third Party Distribution and Specialist in Investment Marketing respectively. Prior to this Christopher was a Sales Manager at National Provident Institution.
Christopher holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and a Diploma in Financial Planning.

Oliver Cartade has been Head of the Asset Management & Institutional Clients division of Bank J. Safra Sarasin Ltd since March 2020 and a member of the Group Executive Board since November 2019. Prior to that he was Head of the Trading, Treasury and Asset Management division of Bank J. Safra Sarasin Ltd since November 2019. Oliver Cartade has held leadership roles within the J. Safra Group for over 15 years. In 2009 he created and became the Managing Director of J. Safra Sarasin Asset Management (Europe) Ltd while also holding responsibility as General Manager of the London Branch of Bank J. Safra Sarasin (Gibraltar) Ltd which he opened in 2007 when he moved to London. He joined Safra National bank of New York in 2003 where he was responsible for performing research on and investing in hedge funds. Prior to joining the J. Safra Group, he worked for Kaufman Bros. LP, a boutique investment bank in New York, where he focused on M&A and private equity transactions across various industries. In 2000, Oliver Cartade joined PIPE9 Corporation, an internet start-up focused on B2B ecommerce, as a VP of Business Development.
Oliver began his professional career in 1998 at Prudential Securities in New York in the Investment Banking division focused on the technology sector.
Born in 1976; Oliver Cartade is a UK citizen. He graduated cum laude from The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and received an MBA from INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France. He is also a CFA® charterholder.

Tony is responsible for fixed income portfolio management with particular focus on government bonds and emerging markets. Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners in 2017, he worked as a portfolio manager in global fixed income and currencies at Nomura and JPMorgan.

Alex Cobbold

Alex is responsible for screening and researching stock ideas from the Global Energy and Industrials Universe and providing insight into macro events and themes which will influence the sectors.
Alex joined Sarasin & Partners in January 2017. Prior to joining Sarasin, Alex was employed at the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC) for 16 years as a global industrials and energy equity and commodity analyst and portfolio manager.
Before joining the GIC he was an analyst at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein for five years. He covered the EU building and materials sector. Alex‘s career started in the city after graduating at National Provident Institution (NPI) as a UK fund manager.

Phil joined Sarasin & Partners in 2013 as head of the multi-asset team and has more than 30 years’ investment experience.
Before joining Sarasin, Phil worked at Newton Investment Management, where he was chief investment officer of the private clients and charities division. He has also held investment management roles at Capital House and Leopold Joseph.
Phil is a fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

William is responsible for developing relationships with financial advisers and discretionary fund managers in London and the southern region of the UK.
He joined Sarasin & Partners in November 2015. Prior to joining Sarasin, William was an associate within the Client Relationship team at Ingenious Investments.
William hold a BA (Hons) in History from University of Nottingham. As well as a graduate diploma in Law from the Nottingham Law School, MSt in Modern British and European History from Oxford University. He also hold the CISI Level 6 PCIAM Investment Advice & Management.

Zoe has over 10 years of investment experience. She joined Sarasin & Partners in 2018 from Close Brothers Asset Management where she spent 4 years working as a Business Development Director promoting the full Close investment proposition to intermediary firms in the Thames Valley area.
Prior to this she worked as a Business Development Manager at Meteor Asset Management and Barclays Wealth & Investment Management.
Zoe holds the CISI Diploma in Investment Advice (Securities) and is a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

Neil is a portfolio manager for the global equity income strategies. Within the global equity team he co manages Sarasin’s Institutional mandates and retail funds.
Neil joined Sarasin & Partners in December 2017 from Polar Capital where he was Global Income Fund Manager. Previous to this Neil was Global Emerging Market Income & Growth Fund Manager.
He also held positions with AXA Framlington, Hexam Capital Partners, Baring Asset Management and Framlington Investment Management.
Neil started his career in 2001 after completing his degree at the University of Leeds.

Allanah assists with the management of UK and international portfolios. Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners in 2018, she completed internships at Investec Asset Management and Whitman Howard Ltd.
Allanah graduated with an MSc in Investment and Wealth Management from Imperial College Business School, and previously a BSc in Chemistry from the University of Bristol. Allanah holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC), the Private Client Investment Advice and Management certificate (PCIAM), and is currently studying for the Chartered Financial Analyst exams, having recently passed Level 1.

Ruadhri Duncan

Ruadhri has over 15 years of investment experience in the fund management industry, where he has operated as both a fund manager and a charity trustee. After leaving the Army he started work with Leopold Joseph and Sons where he completed his fund management exams. In 1999 he moved to Newton Investment Management, where he worked within the charities department for over 12 years, joining Sarasin & Partners in 2011.
Ruadhri is a Governor of Maidwell Hall School and a trustee of the Army Cadet Force Association.

Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners, Randal was at NCL Investments Limited. He graduated from Worcester College, Oxford in 1989 with an MA Hons in Modern History. He also holds the PCIAM (Private Client Investment Advice and Management Certificate) and Investment Management Certificate (IMC).
Randal is Chairman of the London Partners and was also responsible for setting up our Dublin office, which he continues to oversee.

Ben joined Sarasin & Partners in 2017. He started his career at Friends Provident as graduate trainee and after nearly 4 years moved to Henderson Global Investors where he was for over 14 years managing European (including UK) equities funds, rising to Director and Head of the Mainstream European team. Prior to joining Sarasin, Ben spent 9 years at GIC Private Ltd in a similar capacity.
Ben hold a BSc (Hons) degree in Economics and Politics from Bristol University, is Associate of the Society of Investment Professionals and a member of the CFA Institute.

Ben is primarily responsible for managing portfolios on behalf of private clients and professional intermediaries. Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners in January 2019, Ben began his career at Tilney in 2010, eventually rising to Director. There he was responsible for private client portfolios as well as sitting on the Asset Allocation and Fund Selection committees.
Ben attended University College London and graduated with a First-Class BSc Hons in History & Philosophy of Science. He has passed the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments (CISI) Masters in Wealth Management, Private Client Investment Advice & Management qualification (PCIAM) and CFA Level 1. Ben is also a Chartered Fellow of the CISI.

Duncan is responsible for the management of portfolios on behalf of UK and international clients. He started his career at Dresdner RCM Global Investors, followed by 10 years at GAM London Ltd.
Duncan attended Newcastle University and has a BSc Hons in Agricultural Economics. He holds the certificate in Private Client Investment Advice and Management (PCIAM), the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and the SFA.

John Handford
Head of Charity Marketing
John is responsible for marketing Sarasin & Partners’ investment services to charities and not-for-profit organisations including medical, educational, environmental, grant makers and religious orders.
John joined Sarasin & Partners in early 2011 after a career in the Army where he saw varied operational service. Much of his experience has been multinational in the climate of military, civilian and interagency cooperatio. He managed his Regimental Charities and remains a trustee of The Airborne Forces Security Fund. He has considerable experience in human resources, operational planning, risk management, event planning, instruction and training.
John graduated from Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and is an appointed OBE.

Colm Harney

Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners, Colm was a global equities analyst/portfolio manager at the West Midlands Pension Fund. He previously spent over 5 years in investment consulting at Willis Towers Watson and Hymans Robertson.
Colm gradutated from Smurfit School of Business, Dublin with a MSc. in Finance and has been a CFA charterholder since 2014.

Global Equity Junior Analyst
Brook joined Sarasin in 2017 as an Assistant in the Asset Management team. In 2019 he transitioned to join the Global Equity team as a Junior Analyst.
He graduated with a degree in Politics and Economics from University of Nottingham in 2017. Brook also holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and passed the CFA Level 1 in 2019. He is currently studying towards CFA Level 2.

Lucinda has been managing private client, private pension and charity portfolios for over 30 years.
Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners in 2004, she spent 18 years at HSBC Investment Management, formerly James Capel & Co, where she was a senior director on the management team. Lucinda started in the City with Quilter Goodison & Co, having spent two years training as a Land Agent, specialising in Agricultural Investment.
Lucinda is a graduate of Edinburgh University with a degree in Agriculture.

Abi joined Sarasin & Partners in 2016 and supports the team in managing UK and international portfolios, including US client portfolios.
Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners Abi worked with Equity Gap, an angel investment syndicate, supporting early stage companies to secure investment finance from individuals and the Scottish Government. Additionally she had work experience with both Aberdeen Asset Management and Goldman Sachs prior to graduating.
Abi graduated with an MA Hons degree in Business and Accounting from the University of Edinburgh, and is currently studying for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exams, having recently passed level 2. She also holds the Private Client Investment Advice and Management (PCIAM) certificate.

Ben joined Sarasin & Partners in 2016 and has four years of experience as a quantitative analyst.
Before joining Sarasin, Ben worked for the investment team at Prospect Wealth Management, a part of Raymond James.
Ben holds a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Durham.

Alex Hunter

Alex has been with Sarasin & Partners since 2007, working primarily with the Global Equity franchise and is global equity portfolio manager for the Equity Opportunities fund. Prior to joining Sarasin in 2007, Alex spent four years at US hedge fund Arnhold and S. Bleichroeder working with global long only and alternative equity strategies, based in both New York and London.
From 1996 to 2003 Alex worked at Morgan Stanley as a sell-side equity analyst covering the capital goods sector and subsequently the aerospace sector. Whilst at Morgan Stanley, Alex qualified as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA, 1999) and from 1999 to 2003 was consistently ranked, with his team, in the top three by surveys such as the Institutional Investor Magazine – being top ranked both in Europe (2002) and globally (2000).
Alex is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, holds a BA in Economics and Statistics from the University of Exeter and has taken courses at the London Business School and Harvard Medical School.

James is responsible for the management of portfolios on behalf of charities and UK and international private clients. He is also a member of our Investment Policy Committee and the co-author of the Sarasin Compendium of Investment.
Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners in October 2012, he spent seven years at GAM London Limited where he was a Portfolio Director managing a diverse range of private client and charity portfolios. He started his investment career working for Newton Investment Management.
James has a degree in Business Management from the University of Newcastle and is a qualified Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst. He also holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and has passed CFA level 1.

Katherine Hussein joined Sarasin & Partners in March 2020 as an Investment Manager for Charities. Prior to Sarasin, Katherine worked at J.P. Morgan Asset Management in the Global Insurance Solutions team covering insurance companies in Europe and Asia. She has also worked at Société Générale Private Bank as an Investment Advisor and has completed internships at Goldman Sachs in Mergers & Acquisitions and at RBS in Sales & Trading. Katherine graduated from Queen Mary, University of London with a degree in Economics.

Sam has 24 years of investment experience, and is responsible for the management of portfolios for domestic and international private clients.
He joined Sarasin & Partners in 2007 from Baring Asset Management, where he managed private client portfolios and headed the fund of funds business. Sam’s career in the city started in 1994 at Brewin Dolphin Securities Ltd.
Sam holds a BSc Honours degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Sussex. He is a Chartered Fellow of the CISI.

James assists with the management of portfolios for a variety of UK and international private clients and charities. Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners in 2017, he spent 18 months working for Bank Leumi as an Assistant Relationship Manager on the Investment Advisory Desk.
James graduated with a BA Hons in Russian from the University of Bristol. He holds the Investment Advice Diploma, the Level 6 Private Client Investment Advice and Management certificate (PCIAM), while he has also obtained the Level 7 CISI Chartered Wealth Manager Qualification.

Natasha Landell-Mills

Natasha joined Sarasin & Partners in 2013, where she oversees the firm’s stewardship activities. Specific areas of work include steering the integration of environmental, social and governance (ESG) matters into the investment process, managing voting and engagement, and leading outreach on several policy and market-related matters.
Natasha is a member of the Financial Reporting Council’s Investor Advisory Group, as well as the Advisory Board for Sir Donald Brydon’s review of the effectiveness and purpose of audit.
Natasha has a background in development economics and responsible investment. Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners, she spent six years as the senior analyst leading ESG integration and several areas of policy work at the Universities Superannuation Scheme’s investment management arm.
Natasha has a Masters in Economics from the University of Cambridge, an MSc in Natural Resource and Environmental Economics from University College London, and is a CFA Charterholder.

Therese is responsible for undertaking rigorous analysis on the financial implications of ESG factors for specific stocks as well as on a sector/industry basis. She also supports and leads company engagements and voting.

Richard joined Sarasin & Partners in 1992, was appointed Head of Charities following the merger between Chiswell Associates and Sarasin in 2003 and is a member of the Executive Committee.

He is author of the Sarasin & Partners Compendium of Investment, which has now been published for 20 years and is Director of the £2bn Sarasin Charity Authorised Investment Fund range. Richard has lectured at The Judge (Cambridge), University of Vienna and University of Stellenbosch business schools and runs the Trustee Training Programme for the CFG. Giles is also a research analyst, with a specific focus on the ‘evolving consumption’ theme.
Giles joined Sarasin & Partners in 2018. He joined the industry in 2004 and has expertise in global, ESG and sustainable investment. Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners, Giles was the lead fund manager of climate change and thematic/sector funds at Schroders, as well as holding responsibilities as an analyst within the global sector specialist team. Guy co-manages Sarasin’s global equity income strategies for institutional and retail clients. He has over 30 years of investment experience and joined Sarasin in 1984, and is a fellow of Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford.
In 1988 he became manager of Sarasin’s flagship GlobalSar family of balanced investment funds, winning awards for investment performance and risk profile. He has pioneered the use of thematic investment in the management of global equity portfolios and today manages the Sarasin Global Opportunities fund as well as leading the firm’s investment strategy.
Guy writes regularly in the international financial press and appears on Bloomberg and other financial channels.

From the beginning of 2009 until the sale of the business in July 2014, Chris was Chief Executive of Ignis Asset Management, a UK based Asset Management business with some £65bn of Assets under Management. Over this period, Chris led the successful transformation, and then sale, of the business. In addition to his role as CEO with Ignis, Chris was also a member of the Executive Committee of the Phoenix Group, a UK FTSE 250 company which owned Ignis.
Prior to his time at Ignis, Chris held Board level positions at a variety of Asset Management businesses including Gartmore, Hill Samuel Asset Management and Cambridge Place Investment Management, over some fifteen years. With over 40 years in the investment management industry, Gary has held CIO and CEO positions at some of the largest international organizations in the private, not for profit, and official sectors, including BP, Wellcome Trust and the International Monetary Fund in Washington DC. His experience covers the oversight of long-term capital pools such as pension funds and endowments, as well as shorter term liquidity pools and reserve assets.
During his 6-year tenure at the IMF, Gary led the process which saw the creation of a $6bn in-house, multi-asset endowment funded by gold sales, as part of the Fund’s “New Income Model”. This complex assignment led to a transformational change in how the IMF finances itself, and required the establishment of completely new investment, governance, and operational frameworks within the Fund. Armed with these new investment powers, Gary also oversaw a strategic review of the Fund’s own internal reserve assets which was approved by the Board in 2015.
Since retiring from the IMF, Gary is involved with non-executive roles at Sarasin & Partners, as well as being a Trustee of the John Ellerman Foundation, a UK not for profit, supporting the arts, environment and social action. He also serves on investment committees at the Nuffield Foundation and Gresham House PLC, and is Chairman of a small biotechnology company, Cambridge Science, in the USA.

Guy was appointed as Managing Partner in June 2016, having previously been Chief Operating Officer since 2010 and prior to that Chief Financial Officer of the Sarasin (UK) Group from 2002 until 2010. He is also the Chief Executive Officer of our investment fund company, Sarasin Investment Funds Limited, and non-executive director to our offshore fund company, Sarasin Funds Management (Ireland) Limited. He is also Chairman on the Executive Committee and a member of the Product Strategy Group.
He started his career at Smith and Williamson where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1990. He spent a year at the Investment Management Regulatory Organisation (IMRO) on secondment and joined Sarasin & Partners in 1994 where he had responsibility for the financial accounts, compliance, corporate strategy and fund administration.
Guy is a Chartered Accountant, and was also formerly the Chairman of the FSA’s Smaller Businesses Practitioner Panel and a member of the FSA’s Practitioner Panel.

Richard joined Sarasin & Partners in 1992, was appointed Head of Charities following the merger between Chiswell Associates and Sarasin in 2003 and is a member of the Executive Committee.
He specialises in strategy and the management of diversified, multi-asset portfolios for charities. He is author of the Sarasin & Partners Compendium of Investment, which has now been published for 20 years and is Director of the £2bn Sarasin Charity Authorised Investment Fund range. Richard has lectured at The Judge (Cambridge), University of Vienna and University of Stellenbosch business schools and runs the Trustee Training Programme for the CFG. He is the Chairman of the Investments Advisory Committee of St Paul’s Cathedral.

Hadley is the COO for Client Affairs and has operational oversight for the private clients, charities and institutional teams.
Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners, Hadley was the Division COO for Wealth Management at C Hoare & Co. In 2017, he executed the sale of the division to Cazenove Capital. Before this, he worked at Barclays from 2009, where he was the Head of Change for the UK Private Bank, and led a number of transformative programmes. He has also worked at UBS where, amongst other roles, he ran their European securities financing operation.
Hadley graduated with a BA Econ (Hons) from the University of Reading, and is an Associate of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI).

Subitha is responsible for analysing the macroeconomic backdrop that underpins investment strategy.
Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners, Subitha worked at UBS in Zurich, Switzerland, as a Senior Economist for Asia in Global Markets Research and then as a Macroeconomist for Asia in Sovereign Research. She was a project Director at the Center for Institutional Reform and the Informal Sector, Washington DC, USA. She also worked as a research assistant at the World Bank’s Middle East Department.
Subitha holds a BA in Economics from Dartmouth College, Hanover NH, USA and an MA and Ph.D. in Economics from Duke University, Durham NC, USA.

Tim joined Sarasin from the Bank of New York (now BNY Mellon) in 2005 as the Valuations Manager. He became Head of Operations in 2009 and then Chief Operating Officer in 2016.
Tim is primarily responsible for ensuring that the operational and IT components of the firm support efficient and effective processes within a strong control environment. Tim entered the Financial Services industry with a position at WM Company in Edinburgh, before moving into a client servicing role at Deutsche Asset Management in London.
Tim holds a BA from Macquarie University, Sydney, and an Executive MBA from the Cass Business School, University of London.

Oliver joined Sarasin & Partners in September 2008 having previously spent his 20-year fund management career at HSBC (formerly James Capel & Co) where he was Head of Charities. In addition to specialising in the management of charity portfolios, he leads on the subject of Social Impact Investments, and is responsible for the Sarasin Sustainability Report. Oliver chairs the Sarasin Employee Forum, and has been a trustee of I CAN, a specialist speech and language charity for children with communication difficulties, as well as the Prostate Cancer Research Centre. He is an Associate of the Securities Institute, and is on the Board of the Charity Investors’ Group (CIG).

Daniel Belfer has been CEO of Bank J. Safra Sarasin Ltd since November 2019 and chairs the Group Executive Board. He is also Chairman of Sarasin & Partners LLP and of bank zweiplus ltd. Prior to that, he had been responsible for the Trading, Treasury and Asset Management Division since 2013. Daniel Belfer has held leadership roles within the J. Safra Group for 20 years. In 2010, he moved to Geneva, Switzerland, where he joined Banque J. Safra (Suisse) SA from Bank J. Safra Sarasin (Bahamas) Ltd, where had been CEO and a member of the Board of Directors since 2008. He became Head of Trading at Safra National Bank of New York in 2004, having held responsibility for Fixed Income Trading and Structured Products since 2000, when he joined Safra National Bank of New York. Daniel Belfer began his professional career in 1997 at BancBoston Robertson Stephens Inc. in Boston, USA; in the Emerging Markets Sales, Trading & Research department.
Born in 1975, Daniel Belfer is a Brazilian citizen and lives in Geneva, Switzerland. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Boston University and is a CFA® charterholder.

Jamie is Head of our Private Client team. His responsibilities include the management of the Private Client Department, product and new business development, and the management of key client portfolios. He is also Chief Executive of Sarasin Asset Management, our subsidiary company for US clients. Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners in 1996, Jamie was at NCL Investments Ltd having joined the company days before the 1987 stock market crash.

Oliver Cartade has been Head of the Asset Management & Institutional Clients division of Bank J. Safra Sarasin Ltd since March 2020 and a member of the Group Executive Board since November 2019. Prior to that he was Head of the Trading, Treasury and Asset Management division of Bank J. Safra Sarasin Ltd since November 2019. Oliver Cartade has held leadership roles within the J. Safra Group for over 15 years. In 2009 he created and became the Managing Director of J. Safra Sarasin Asset Management (Europe) Ltd while also holding responsibility as General Manager of the London Branch of Bank J. Safra Sarasin (Gibraltar) Ltd which he opened in 2007 when he moved to London. He joined Safra National bank of New York in 2003 where he was responsible for performing research on and investing in hedge funds. Prior to joining the J. Safra Group, he worked for Kaufman Bros. LP, a boutique investment bank in New York, where he focused on M&A and private equity transactions across various industries. In 2000, Oliver Cartade joined PIPE9 Corporation, an internet start-up focused on B2B ecommerce, as a VP of Business Development.
Oliver began his professional career in 1998 at Prudential Securities in New York in the Investment Banking division focused on the technology sector.
Born in 1976; Oliver Cartade is a UK citizen. He graduated cum laude from The Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and received an MBA from INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France. He is also a CFA® charterholder.

Phil joined Sarasin & Partners in 2013 as head of the multi-asset team and has more than 30 years’ investment experience.
Before joining Sarasin, Phil worked at Newton Investment Management, where he was chief investment officer of the private clients and charities division. He has also held investment management roles at Capital House and Leopold Joseph.
Phil is a fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

Ruadhri has over 15 years of investment experience in the fund management industry, where he has operated as both a fund manager and a charity trustee. After leaving the Army he started work with Leopold Joseph and Sons where he completed his fund management exams. In 1999 he moved to Newton Investment Management, where he worked within the charities department for over 12 years, joining Sarasin & Partners in 2011.
Ruadhri is a Governor of Maidwell Hall School and a trustee of the Army Cadet Force Association.

Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners in 2004, she spent 18 years at HSBC Investment Management, formerly James Capel & Co, where she was a senior director on the management team. Lucinda started in the City with Quilter Goodison & Co, having spent two years training as a Land Agent, specialising in Agricultural Investment.
Lucinda is a graduate of Edinburgh University with a degree in Agriculture.

Alex has been with Sarasin & Partners since 2007, working primarily with the Global Equity franchise and is global equity portfolio manager for the Equity Opportunities fund. Prior to joining Sarasin in 2007, Alex spent four years at US hedge fund Arnhold and S. Bleichroeder working with global long only and alternative equity strategies, based in both New York and London.
From 1996 to 2003 Alex worked at Morgan Stanley as a sell-side equity analyst covering the capital goods sector and subsequently the aerospace sector. Whilst at Morgan Stanley, Alex qualified as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA, 1999) and from 1999 to 2003 was consistently ranked, with his team, in the top three by surveys such as the Institutional Investor Magazine - being top ranked both in Europe (2002) and globally (2000).
Alex is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, holds a BA in Economics and Statistics from the University of Exeter and has taken courses at the London Business School and Harvard Medical School.

Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners in October 2012, he spent seven years at GAM London Limited where he was a Portfolio Director managing a diverse range of private client and charity portfolios. He started his investment career working for Newton Investment Management.
James has a degree in Business Management from the University of Newcastle and is a qualified Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst. He also holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and has passed CFA level 1.

Natasha joined Sarasin & Partners in 2013, where she oversees the firm’s stewardship activities. Specific areas of work include steering the integration of environmental, social and governance (ESG) matters into the investment process, managing voting and engagement, and leading outreach on several policy and market-related matters.
Natasha is a member of the Financial Reporting Council’s Investor Advisory Group, as well as the Advisory Board for Sir Donald Brydon’s review of the effectiveness and purpose of audit.
Natasha has a background in development economics and responsible investment. Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners, she spent six years as the senior analyst leading ESG integration and several areas of policy work at the Universities Superannuation Scheme’s investment management arm.
Natasha has a Masters in Economics from the University of Cambridge, an MSc in Natural Resource and Environmental Economics from University College London, and is a CFA Charterholder.

Guy co-manages Sarasin’s global equity income strategies for institutional and retail clients. He has over 30 years of investment experience and joined Sarasin in 1984, and is a fellow of Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford.
In 1988 he became manager of Sarasin's flagship GlobalSar family of balanced investment funds, winning awards for investment performance and risk profile. He has pioneered the use of thematic investment in the management of global equity portfolios and today manages the Sarasin Global Opportunities fund as well as leading the firm’s investment strategy.
Guy writes regularly in the international financial press and appears on Bloomberg and other financial channels.
Among other responsibilities he is a Trustee of the Invictus Games Foundation, and Chatsworth House, and is a member of the London School of Economics Ideas Board.

Chris is currently Chairman of JP Morgan Japanese Investment Trust plc, Quilter Financial Planning LTD and BlackRock Throgmorton Trust plc, and a Non-Executive Director of Alliance Trust PLC and UIL Limited.
From the beginning of 2009 until the sale of the business in July 2014, Chris was Chief Executive of Ignis Asset Management, a UK based Asset Management business with some £65bn of Assets under Management. Over this period, Chris led the successful transformation, and then sale, of the business. In addition to his role as CEO with Ignis, Chris was also a member of the Executive Committee of the Phoenix Group, a UK FTSE 250 company which owned Ignis.
Prior to his time at Ignis, Chris held Board level positions at a variety of Asset Management businesses including Gartmore, Hill Samuel Asset Management and Cambridge Place Investment Management, over some fifteen years. Before his move in to Asset Management in 1995, Chris spent 10 years with a US Investment Bank, Prudential-Bache, in senior Finance roles in London, Toronto, Tokyo and New York. He started his career with KPMG in 1980 where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant.

With over 40 years in the investment management industry, Gary has held CIO and CEO positions at some of the largest international organizations in the private, not for profit, and official sectors, including BP, Wellcome Trust and the International Monetary Fund in Washington DC. His experience covers the oversight of long-term capital pools such as pension funds and endowments, as well as shorter term liquidity pools and reserve assets.
During his 6-year tenure at the IMF, Gary led the process which saw the creation of a $6bn in-house, multi-asset endowment funded by gold sales, as part of the Fund's "New Income Model". This complex assignment led to a transformational change in how the IMF finances itself, and required the establishment of completely new investment, governance, and operational frameworks within the Fund. Armed with these new investment powers, Gary also oversaw a strategic review of the Fund's own internal reserve assets which was approved by the Board in 2015.
Since retiring from the IMF, Gary is involved with non-executive roles at Sarasin & Partners, as well as being a Trustee of the John Ellerman Foundation, a UK not for profit, supporting the arts, environment and social action. He also serves on investment committees at the Nuffield Foundation and Gresham House PLC, and is Chairman of a small biotechnology company, Cambridge Science, in the USA.

Adil started his career at AXA Investment Managers in 2008 and gained experience amongst various teams including distribution, risk management, asset allocation and eventually became a generalist Analyst within the Multimanager team.

Alex is responsible for screening and researching stock ideas from the Global Energy and Industrials Universe and providing insight into macro events and themes which will influence the sectors.
Alex joined Sarasin & Partners in January 2017. Prior to joining Sarasin, Alex was employed at the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC) for 16 years as a global industrials and energy equity and commodity analyst and portfolio manager.
Before joining the GIC he was an analyst at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein for five years. He covered the EU building and materials sector. Alex‘s career started in the city after graduating at National Provident Institution (NPI) as a UK fund manager.

Phil joined Sarasin & Partners in 2013 as head of the multi-asset team and has more than 30 years’ investment experience.

Neil joined Sarasin & Partners in December 2017 from Polar Capital where he was Global Income Fund Manager. Previous to this Neil was Global Emerging Market Income & Growth Fund Manager.
He also held positions with AXA Framlington, Hexam Capital Partners, Baring Asset Management and Framlington Investment Management.

Prior to joining Sarasin, Ben spent 9 years at GIC Private Ltd in a similar capacity.

Alex has been with Sarasin & Partners since 2007, working primarily with the Global Equity franchise and is global equity portfolio manager for the Equity Opportunities fund. Prior to joining Sarasin in 2007, Alex spent four years at US hedge fund Arnhold and S. Bleichroeder working with global long only and alternative equity strategies, based in both New York and London.
From 1996 to 2003 Alex worked at Morgan Stanley as a sell-side equity analyst covering the capital goods sector and subsequently the aerospace sector. Whilst at Morgan Stanley, Alex qualified as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA, 1999) and from 1999 to 2003 was consistently ranked, with his team, in the top three by surveys such as the Institutional Investor Magazine - being top ranked both in Europe (2002) and globally (2000).

Natasha joined Sarasin & Partners in 2013, where she oversees the firm’s stewardship activities. Specific areas of work include steering the integration of environmental, social and governance (ESG) matters into the investment process, managing voting and engagement, and leading outreach on several policy and market-related matters.
Natasha is a member of the Financial Reporting Council’s Investor Advisory Group, as well as the Advisory Board for Sir Donald Brydon’s review of the effectiveness and purpose of audit.
Natasha has a background in development economics and responsible investment. Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners, she spent six years as the senior analyst leading ESG integration and several areas of policy work at the Universities Superannuation Scheme’s investment management arm.
Natasha has a Masters in Economics from the University of Cambridge, an MSc in Natural Resource and Environmental Economics from University College London, and is a CFA Charterholder.

Giles is also a research analyst, with a specific focus on the ‘evolving consumption’ theme.
Giles joined Sarasin & Partners in 2018. He joined the industry in 2004 and has expertise in global, ESG and sustainable investment. Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners, Giles was the lead fund manager of climate change and thematic/sector funds at Schroders, as well as holding responsibilities as an analyst within the global sector specialist team. Guy co-manages Sarasin’s global equity income strategies for institutional and retail clients. He has over 30 years of investment experience and joined Sarasin in 1984, and is a fellow of Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford.
In 1988 he became manager of Sarasin's flagship GlobalSar family of balanced investment funds, winning awards for investment performance and risk profile. He has pioneered the use of thematic investment in the management of global equity portfolios and today manages the Sarasin Global Opportunities fund as well as leading the firm’s investment strategy.
Guy writes regularly in the international financial press and appears on Bloomberg and other financial channels.
Among other responsibilities he is a Trustee of the Invictus Games Foundation, and Chatsworth House, and is a member of the London School of Economics Ideas Board.

John joined Sarasin & Partners in early 2011 after a career in the Army where he saw varied operational service. Much of his experience has been multinational in the climate of military, civilian and interagency cooperatio. He managed his Regimental Charities and remains a trustee of The Airborne Forces Security Fund. He has considerable experience in human resources, operational planning, risk management, event planning, instruction and training.
John graduated from Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and is an appointed OBE.

Abi joined Sarasin & Partners in 2016 and supports the team in managing UK and international portfolios, including US client portfolios.
Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners Abi worked with Equity Gap, an angel investment syndicate, supporting early stage companies to secure investment finance from individuals and the Scottish Government. Additionally she had work experience with both Aberdeen Asset Management and Goldman Sachs prior to graduating.
Abi graduated with an MA Hons degree in Business and Accounting from the University of Edinburgh, and is currently studying for the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) exams, having recently passed level 2. She also holds the Private Client Investment Advice and Management (PCIAM) certificate.

James Hutton
Partner, Charities
James is responsible for the management of portfolios on behalf of charities and UK and international private clients. He is also a member of our Investment Policy Committee and the co-author of the Sarasin Compendium of Investment.
Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners in October 2012, he spent seven years at GAM London Limited where he was a Portfolio Director managing a diverse range of private client and charity portfolios. He started his investment career working for Newton Investment Management.
James has a degree in Business Management from the University of Newcastle and is a qualified Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst. He also holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and has passed CFA level 1.

Katherine Hussein joined Sarasin & Partners in March 2020 as an Investment Manager for Charities. Prior to Sarasin, Katherine worked at J.P. Morgan Asset Management in the Global Insurance Solutions team covering insurance companies in Europe and Asia. She has also worked at Société Générale Private Bank as an Investment Advisor and has completed internships at Goldman Sachs in Mergers & Acquisitions and at RBS in Sales & Trading. Katherine graduated from Queen Mary, University of London with a degree in Economics.

Sam has 24 years of investment experience, and is responsible for the management of portfolios for domestic and international private clients.
He joined Sarasin & Partners in 2007 from Baring Asset Management, where he managed private client portfolios and headed the fund of funds business. Sam's career in the city started in 1994 at Brewin Dolphin Securities Ltd.
Sam holds a BSc Honours degree in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Sussex. He is a Chartered Fellow of the CISI.

James assists with the management of portfolios for a variety of UK and international private clients and charities. Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners in 2017, he spent 18 months working for Bank Leumi as an Assistant Relationship Manager on the Investment Advisory Desk.
James graduated with a BA Hons in Russian from the University of Bristol. He holds the Investment Advice Diploma, the Level 6 Private Client Investment Advice and Management certificate (PCIAM), while he has also obtained the Level 7 CISI Chartered Wealth Manager Qualification.

Tom joined Sarasin & Partners in March 2019. He started his career at Investec where he managed multi-asset portfolios for private clients and charities, and specialist European real estate equity mandates.
Tom graduated from the University of Warwick in 2014 with a degree in History, is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (Chartered MCSI), and holds the Investment Advice Diploma (IAD). Thomas career started in the industry in 2013. He joined Sarasin & Partners in 2017. Previously Thomas worked for Standard Life Investments for a number of years managing multi-asset and absolute return portfolios for corporate pension schemes and institutions.

Richard Maitland

Richard joined Sarasin & Partners in 1992, was appointed Head of Charities following the merger between Chiswell Associates and Sarasin in 2003 and is a member of the Executive Committee.
He specialises in strategy and the management of diversified, multi-asset portfolios for charities. He is author of the Sarasin & Partners Compendium of Investment, which has now been published for 20 years and is Director of the £2bn Sarasin Charity Authorised Investment Fund range. Richard has lectured at The Judge (Cambridge), University of Vienna and University of Stellenbosch business schools and runs the Trustee Training Programme for the CFG. He is the Chairman of the Investments Advisory Committee of St Paul’s Cathedral.

Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners in 2017, Tania spent two years at Conservation Capital working on the investment team, and latterly became COO. Before this Tania spent eight years at Ruffer LLP where she was responsible for managing multi-asset, absolute return portfolios for charities, pensions, trusts and private clients. She has over ten years' investment experience. Tania graduated with an MA (Hons) degree in Classics & Spanish from the University of Edinburgh. She holds the CISI Diploma and the Investment Management Certificate (IMC), and is a member of the UK's Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.

Emma is responsible for the coordination of projects across Client Affairs, as well as acting as first line of defence and implementing strategy.
She previously spent three years working at C Hoare & Co as a Portfolio Manager’s Assistant on the Offshore Team, before moving to JM Finn as a Business Analyst.
Emma holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and PRINCE 2 qualifications.

Erik has over 12 years of investment experience, and is responsible for Sarasin & Partners’ overall relationship with Bank J. Safra Sarasin, as well as other Institutional clients of Sarasin & Partners. He is also Market Head for Southern Africa.
He began his career in 2008 as an investment analyst at Deutsche Bank (Suisse) S.A in Geneva, Switzerland. He then spent 9 years at Banque Lombard Odier & Cie SA, starting in Geneva where he worked extensively on developing the Nordic private clients desk. Erik then transferred to London where he helped build the European bank's new investment offering and later moved to a broader role within their Product Management & Sales division, before moving to Sarasin & Partners. Erik holds a BA Honours degree from the University of Manchester and is a CFA Charterholder.

Kamran is responsible for managing discretionary portfolios for charities, foundations and endowments.
He joined Sarasin & Partners in 2019 and previously worked at JP Morgan Geneva as support to the Head of Investments for EMEA, before moving to JP Morgan London where he covered ETFs and Mutual Funds. Kamran has worked in the industry since July 2016.
Kamran holds a BSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and has completed the CFA Level 1.

John joined Sarasin in January 2008. Prior to this John worked in a similar role at Henderson for over 8 years. With more than 30 years’ experience in the financial services industry, he has a strong knowledge of the requirements of the role and of the challenges currently facing our industry.

Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners, Matt worked at Newton Investment Management where he was Head of UK Institutional Business Development. Previously Matt has worked at Neuberger Berman, Gartmore Investment Management and Liontrust Asset Management – all focusing on institutional business development.
Matt graduated from Boston College in the United States with a Bachelor of Arts (major in political science) and holds the Securities Institute Investment Administration Qualification (IAQ).

Throughout his 11 years in the industry, Iestyn has held sales and distribution roles with brokerage, platform and asset management firms. Before joining Sarasin & Partners in 2018, Iestyn was Regional Sales Manager for Verbatim Asset Management, specialising in multi-asset and discretionary solutions.
Iestyn studied Law at Cardiff University before joining Standard Life Investments as a graduate trainee. He holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC) and has passed Level 1 of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program.

Prior to joining Sarasin, Stephen was Head of Private Merchant Banking at Edmond de Rothschild, having previously spent four years as Head of Private Wealth Management at Kleinwort Benson and nine years as Head of Business Development at Schroders Private Banking. He started his career in 1996 at Mercury Asset Management.

Hadley is the COO for Client Affairs and has operational oversight for the private clients, charities and institutional teams.
Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners, Hadley was the Division COO for Wealth Management at C Hoare & Co. In 2017, he executed the sale of the division to Cazenove Capital. Before this, he worked at Barclays from 2009, where he was the Head of Change for the UK Private Bank, and led a number of transformative programmes. He has also worked at UBS where, amongst other roles, he ran their European securities financing operation.
Hadley graduated with a BA Econ (Hons) from the University of Reading, and is an Associate of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI).

Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners in 2013, John spent 15 years at Merrill Lynch (formerly Mercury Asset Management) managing global investment portfolios for UK and international non-profits, private clients and pensions. He was leader of Merrill's international discretionary management team, head of US client portfolios, lead manager for Merrill's Global Funds Advisor programme for over ten years, and a voting member of the asset allocation and stock selection committees.
John graduated from Tulane University's A.B. School of Business in the US, with Honours in Finance and Economics.

Sophie’s primary responsibility is to manage and develop relationships with potential clients, as well as a range of intermediaries who represent HNW and UHNW individuals with a requirement for discretionary investment management services. Prior to joining Sarasin & Partners in January 2012, Sophie spent four years with a corporate finance boutique in Mayfair.

Alexander joined Sarasin & Partners LLP in 2014. He has worked in financial services for over 10 years, most recently at Newton Investment Management where he managed international private clients and Trusts, as well as investment models.

Before joining Sarasin & Partners in 2019, Henrietta spent 7 years at M&G Investments as Investment Director with responsibility for the Global Themes Fund and M&G’s retail property fund. Prior to this, she spent 6 years at JPMorgan Private Bank as Executive Director, International Head of Manager Selection. Henrietta began her career in 1993 at Cazenove & Co, before joining Credit Suisse Private Bank as a global equity fund manager.
Henrietta is a fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment and holds the Investment Management Certificate (IMC).
