Sarasin & Partners, the £17bn global thematic investment manager, has appointed Mark Burgess as an independent non-executive director of its LLP Board.
With more than 30 years of senior fund management experience, Burgess most recently served as chief investment officer (CIO) EMEA and deputy global CIO at Columbia Threadneedle Investments, a role he held for nine years. Prior to this, he was head of equities at Legal & General Investment Management, where he also led the group’s corporate governance efforts. Burgess began his career as a UK equity fund manager and held senior positions at Deutsche Asset Management.
Burgess brings extensive expertise and a proven record of leadership within the asset management industry. He was a founding board member of the Investor Forum, chaired the Investment Committee at the Investment Association, and contributed to the Kingman Review advisory panel.
Since leaving his full-time career, Burgess became a senior adviser and then a partner at Tulchan (acquired by Teneo), where he provided guidance to clients on shareholder and capital market matters until 2024. He currently sits on the board of Aviva Investors, where he chairs the remuneration and nominations committees, and is an associate trustee of Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity, serving on the investment committee as well.
