We believe meaningful change happens through open dialogue, not avoidance. Rather than sidestepping carbon-intensive companies, we actively engage with them — alongside policymakers and regulators — to help reduce their carbon footprint.

Beyond the usual carbon measures, we look at how climate change could affect a company’s prospects, both through physical disruption and the opportunities around the switch to cleaner energy.

Our dedicated Climate Active Advisory panel brings together specialists in climate science, business and policy. Their insights steer our efforts towards where they can make the biggest difference.

The investments in this fund fall into three groups.

We look at companies offering solutions to climate-related challenges, which we believe will be the biggest winners as we move towards a lower carbon world. In our process, we refer to these as climate-positive investments.

We like those with the potential to lead the clean energy transition, likely involved in supply chains with high carbon emissions. However, the more they can reduce these emissions, the more likely we are to hit the Paris Agreement targets. We call these climate transformers, which are the subject of far more detailed analysis and engagement.

Finally, we look for businesses where climate risks and opportunities are less obvious, but they’re interesting due to other thematic factors, are categorised as climate-neutral investments.

By taking an active approach, we seek businesses that prioritise long-term sustainability and positive impact. That’s why we exclude companies involved in tobacco-related production or manufacturing, as well as those deriving significant revenues from alcohol, armaments, gambling, adult entertainment or predatory lending. We also avoid any direct exposure to fossil fuels by excluding companies in the GICS Energy Sector. Together these measures help your investments contribute to a cleaner, healthier future.

Any charitable organisation that meets the definition of a charity as set out in Section 1 of the Charities Act 2011 and/or as defined in paragraph 1(1) of Schedule 6 of the Finance Act 2010; which are organised, incorporated or resident in the UK. This includes registered charities, exempt charities as well as charities not registered, such as some schools and academies.
